A large fuel spill was mopped up by emergency crews Tuesday morning.
Vernon Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) and City of Vernon utilities operators were called to the spill in a parking lot in the 2600-block of Highway 6 shortly before 7 a.m. May 24.
“Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed the fuel tank of a personal vehicle broke and leaked approximately 80L of fuel,” the city said in a press release. “Crews worked together to contain the spill with the use of a vacuum truck and absorbent materials.”
No injuries were reported in the incident and there was no impact to traffic.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy has been notified of the incident.
