Some much-needed additions are coming to an Armstrong business.
Council approved development permit applications for poultry producer Colonial Farms that will see the company build a new storage facility and relocate its waste containment facility, and build a pair of structures to house associated equipment.
“We have to get it replaced,” said Colonial Farms general manager Alan King. “It’s of the utmost importance before something bad happens.”
Building a loading and storage facility also has to do with animal welfare rules.
King said chickens can’t get rained or snowed on or be in direct sunlight.
“We don’t have quite enough space right now so we’re making considerations for us and the animals.”
