A police incident allegedly involving weapons in a busy area of Vernon Sunday afternoon turned out to be a false alarm.

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP pulled over a vehicle on 25th Avenue, in front of the Fruit Union Plaza and Polson Park. Witnesses report that officers had their guns drawn.

“This incident was a reported road rage incident where an alleged firearm was pointed at another vehicle,” said RCMP Const. Kelly Brett.

“A high-risk vehicle stop was conducted, however through further investigation, the allegation was proven false and the driver was allowed to proceed.”
