An Edmonton man with two dozen outstanding warrants for his arrest was found hiding under insulation in an attic while trying to evade Kelowna RCMP officers.

Mounties were called to a residence located in the 800 Block of Royal View Drive in Kelowna on Dec. 6, after receiving reports that people were living in the home illegally.

According to the Kelowna RCMP, two of the three alleged squatters were removed from the home by police but the third individual went into hiding.

After searching the home and attempting to call the man out, police eventually located the 30 year old man who had been hiding in the attic under insulation. The man had 24 outstanding warrants from Edmonton, AB that had been extended to B.C.

He was arrested and is currently in custody. Police also recovered an illegal firearm, a replica firearm and illicit drugs at the property.

The man is scheduled to be escorted back to Edmonton.
