UPDATE MONDAY, APRIL 17, 1:38 P.M.:

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP has confirmed an individual has died after being found by a member of the public at the edge of the water at Kal Lake Beach in Coldstream at around 9:45 a.m. Monday, April 17.

RCMP spokesperson Const. Chris Terleski said the person was pulled from the water and transported to hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

”The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP and the BC Coroners Service have begun a concurrent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the person’s death,” said Terleski. “Investigators are currently in the process of positively identifying the person and notifying the next of kin.”

Anyone who has information they believe may be related to this investigation is asked to contact police immediately at (250) 545-7171 and quote file number 2023-5950.

Emergency personnel are on scene at Coldstream’s Kalamalka Beach for a reported drowning.

The call came in shortly before 9:45 a.m. Monday, April 17.

Paramedics were seen giving CPR to an unidentified individual at the shore on the east end of the beach.
