Options are being explored to expand transit for Enderby residents.

City officials have talked to B.C. Transit about possibly increasing service to Salmon Arm, especially since there are fewer physicians in Enderby.

“We want to be more proactive and ensure people can access doctors,” said Mayor Greg McCune.

One possible solution is for B.C. Transit to provide a 10-seat bus and for the city to cover the cost of the driver. Depending on the route, it’s possible that the Regional District of North Okanagan could participate if rural Enderby residents use the bus. There is no timeline for a decision to be made.

“We want more information,” said McCune of the cost and possible service hours.

Currently, a transit bus travels between Enderby and Salmon Arm Wednesdays.
