Even with the focus on flooding, wildfire season has arrived in the North Okanagan.
On Tuesday at about 4:45 p.m., Coldstream firefighters responded to a grass fire in the 500 block of Middleton Way.
“We’re pretty lucky right now that it’s not bone dry,” said Dave Sturgeon, fire chief.
“We’re lucky we got here in time before the winds picked up.”
The fire was about 20-by-30 metres in size and it was close to structures although none were impacted.
Smoking paraphernalia was located in the area but the cause is still under investigation.
