The City of Enderby is offering residents free FireSmart home assessments ahead of the coming wildfire season.
The assessments involve a visit from a local FireSmart representative to assess the property, provide a personalized home risk evaluation and identify where FireSmart practices can be applied.
“There are some very simple and easy steps that property owners can take to FireSmart their properties and protect them from the threat of wildfire. These measures not only help to protect that individual property, but also the surrounding properties and the broader community,” said Jay Scott, FireSmart coordinator for the city.
Mayor Greg McCune said that as recent years have shown, “wildfires are becoming more frequent and aggressive in our area. FireSmart principles are an important component to increasing our community’s resiliency and this project is a great opportunity to implement those principles at the ground level.”
