Green Fair on track

The Armstrong Spallumcheen Environmental Trust (ASET) hosts its popular event April 1

A group that raises bursary dollars for Armstrong secondary school students is hosting its annual Green Fair.

The Armstrong Spallumcheen Environmental Trust (ASET) hosts its popular event April 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Askew’s parking lot on Smith Drive.

“Every year, the Saturday before Earth Day, we hold our Green Fair, living out our mission statement of awareness and support for green corporations and for local producers,” said ASET’s David Derbowka.

ASET was formed in 2001 with an understanding that the “continuing unabated extraction of earth’s finite resources could not continue.”

“Our mission statement is to promote planet health by supporting the education and awareness of our youth and community to become empowered to live with environmentally sustainable practices,” said Derbowka.

To date, ASET has awarded 14 bursaries to Pleasant Valley Secondary School students going into post-secondary environmental studies.

“We thank the community for its ongoing support,” said Derbowka.
