Guilty plea in Enderby shooting

Norman Dybdal admits to shooting man in 2015

A 60-year-old man pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of aggravated assault in connection with a 2015 shooting in Enderby.

Norman Dybdal entered the pleas to one count of aggravated assault and one count of using a firearm in the commission of an offence in Salmon Arm Provincial Court on June 20.

He had originally also been facing a charge of attempted murder.

Dybdal was accused of shooting a 55-year-old man multiple times at a residence in Enderby on Oct. 19, 2015.

The victim was in critical but stable condition following the shooting.

At the time, Vernon RCMP called the shooting targeted and noted the two men knew each other prior to the incident. Police did not comment on what motivated the shooting.

Dybdal will be in court again June 27 to set a date for sentencing.
