Four injured in Friday accident on highway

UPDATED 8:15 a.m. SATURDAY, JULY 29:

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP received a call of an accident on Highway 97A, 10 kilometres north of Armstrong, near The Log Barn in Spallumcheen, at 5:45 p.m.

A southbound pickup truck with one occupant is believed to have entered the northbound lane, colliding head-on with a pickup truck with three occupants.

All four occupants received non-life-threatening injuries.

The northbound truck ended up in a ditch and caught fire.

The accident remains under investigation.

The highway was closed for a period of time.

Highway 97A is closed in both directions 10 kilometres north of Armstrong because of a vehicle incident.

A detour is in place and traffic control operators are on scene.

There are reports of BC Air Ambulance being called into action.

The estimated time of opening is unknown.
