NOCLS Golf Classic raises a whopping $102,350

Funds will support programs for developmentally disabled adults

A local charity has reached a new high.

The North Okanagan Community Life Society’s Golf Classic raised $102,350 Friday, shattering last year’s record of $87,000.

“We are beyond thrilled,” said Garry Molitwenik, executive director of NOCLS, which provides services to developmentally disabled adults.

“The generosity and support of the community is amazing.”

The 21st annual event at the Vernon Golf and Country Club was a sell out with 144 golfers participating. It also included silent auction and live auctions and a celebrity caddy auction.

Among those who volunteered their time as caddies were NDP leader Adrian Dix, MLA Eric Foster, Mayor Rob Sawatzky and the Morning Star’s Lisa Starke and Lynnaya Frasch.
