A potential hazard for boaters is being eliminated on Mabel Lake
Vernon-based Arc Ridge has been hired for $9,807 to remove nine old docks from the breakwater in the Kingfisher area.
There has been growing concern that the docks could threaten boating conditions if they get loose.
“All you would need is one big storm and the logs would be floating downstream,” said Denis Delisle, Enderby and DistrictServices Commission chairperson.
The docks were attached to the existing breakwater two or three years ago by the former owner of the property.
“We have to get them out of there because they’re a tremendous liability,” said director Herman Halvorson.
Arc Ridge was one of three companies to submit a bid for removing the docks.
“The Arc Ridge proposal included a stronger methadology involving how to deploy specialized equipment to avoid orminimize any site impact, as well as comprehensive plans for water, worksite, environmental and public safety,” said TateBengtson, Enderby’s chief administrative officer, in a report.
It’s anticipated the docks could be removed by mid-February.
