Coldstream firefighters respond to a two-vehicle accident near Brewer Road Saturday morning.

A Coldstream motor vehicle accident involving an RCMP cruiser is under investigation.

At about 8 a.m. Saturday, an accident occurred when an RCMP vehicle initiated a U-turn on Highway 6, near Brewer Road, and struck a motorycle.

The two Kelowna occupants of the motorcycle  — a 46-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman — were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries while the RCMP officer was uninjured.

“The traffic reconstructionist is involved in the investigation,” said Cpl. Fritz Schmidt, with the Vernon RCMP.

Due to the civilian injuries and provisions of the B.C. Police Act, the Independent Investigations Office of B.C. was notified and is reviewing the incident.

The accident led to Highway 6 being closed for a few hours.
