Record-breaking temperatures were recorded in Vernon Sunday and Monday.
Temperatures began to climb Saturday, before records were shattered Sunday.
A high of 35 C Sunday broke Vernon’s previous record of 33.3 C, which was set in 1969, said meteorologist Lisa Coldwells.
“It’s a taste of early summer,” she said.
Vernon reached 35.5 C Monday, which broke the record of 33.9 C set in 1970.
Today, it will be close to the old record of 34.4 C set in 1912, with 34 *C.
This weekend, the weather is expected to cool off. Predictions are cold and showery with temperatures of 22 *C.
“Cool, showery (weather) is much more common in June,” she said. The cooler weather is expected to last until mid-June.
