Commuter traffic to Kelowna encountered a snarl Tuesday morning.
A southbound semi-truck failed to negotiate a curve on Highway 97 near the intersection of Bailey Road just after 1 a.m. and ended up on the median.
The incident resulted in sparks landing in the grass a few feet away, sparking a small grass fire which was quickly extinguished by Vernon Fire Rescue Services.
DriveBC reported the highway was closed southbound, with traffic detoured via Commonage Road to Bailey Road and back onto Highway 97. The highway was reopened just before 6 a.m.
A crane had to be brought to the scene to remove the truck from the median.
Nobody was injured. The truck driver was issued a violation ticket.
