Senior woman steals parcel from Vernon doorstep

RCMP are asking for assistance in identifying the suspect

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying an elderly woman who allegedly stole a parcel from a porch.

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP received a report about a theft that took place on Tamarack Drive on Dec. 26 at about 4 p.m. A surveillance video shows an elderly woman who approaches the front door, rings the doorbell and, when there is no answer, helps herself to a small parcel and walks away.

“The RCMP are looking to the public in hopes that someone recognizes this suspect so police can speak with her,” says RCMP Const. Kelly Brett. “The suspect is not known to the victim and their family and had no reason for being at that particular residence that day.”

The suspect is described as an elderly Caucasian woman with short grey hair. She wears glasses and was seen in a grey jacket.
