The investigation into a three-vehicle accident continues.
At about 1 p.m. Friday, RCMP officers were called to an accident at Highway 97 and Old Kamloops Road.
“Early indications are the driver of a Ford Escort either failed to stop or yield after stopping before pulling on to the highway,” said Gord Molendyk, with the RCMP.
“That vehicle was T-boned by a southbound white Audi with two people in it. The crash then caused the Audi to travel into the path of the northbound commercial vehicle and resulted in a head-on crash.”
One of the occupants of the Audi was airlifted to Kelowna General Hospital and is expected to recover.
The driver of the Ford sustained injuries and the passenger of the Audi was injured. Both were taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital while the driver of the commercial vehicle was not injured.
The highway was shut down for about three hours while officers conducted their investigation.
“This file is still being actively investigated at the time of this release. No charges have been laid in this case yet,” said Molendyk.
