Track and field events for the 55+ BC Games will be held at the Greater Vernon Athletics Park in Coldstream.

There will be lots going on during the 2017 55+ BC Games in the North Okanagan.

The confirmed sports for the Sept. 12 to 16 Games have been announced.

They will include archery, badminton, bocce, bridge, carpet bowling, cribbage, cycling, darts, dragon boats, equestrian, five pin bowling, floor curling, golf, horseshoes, ice curling, ice hockey, lawn bowling, mountain bike racing, pickleball, slo-pitch, soccer, squash, swimming, table tennis, tennis, track and field and whist.

“Most of the sports will be held in venues throughout Vernon and Coldstream,” said Wee Yee, 2017 55+ BC Games president.

“Armstrong, also a 2017 Games community partner, is well-suited for the archery, cycling (road races), darts, equestrian and table tennis venues. We are all excited to offer a wide selection of activities for these historical 30th Games.”

With the sports elected, the Games board is now focused on volunteer recruitment and securing additional corporate sponsors and community partners.

The Games website will also go live in early December.

The 2017 55+ BC Games are expected to draw more than 3,500 participants, almost 1,500 volunteers and bring an estimated $3.5 million boost to the region.
