Flames destroy a 60-foot fence along Dixon Dam Road early Friday morning.

Another suspicious fire has authorities ringing alarm bells.

About 60 feet of 12 to 15-foot-high fence was engulfed by flames on Dixon Dam Road just after 1 a.m. Friday.

“It was burning pretty good on both ends and the middle part was pretty much gone,” said Bill Wacey, BX-Swan Lake fire chief.

The flames had spread into adjacent grass and the lower part of a Ponderosa pine tree.

The goal was to keep the fire from moving towards a cedar hedge and a house 40 feet away.

The RCMP and the fire department are involved in the investigation but the cause is considered suspicious.

This is just the latest suspicious fire in the BX over the summer.

“It seems to continue. It’s not just a one-time thing,” said Wacey, who is concerned about the potential risk these fires pose to residents and property.

“We’ve been lucky so far that there hasn’t been wind but we all know how luck runs.”
