Vernon’s Home Depot has joined forces with North Okanagan Youth and Family Services (NOYFSS) to garner support for at-risk and homeless youth.
Running from May 31 to June 26, the Orange Door Project will gather donations at the local Home Depot checkout or online at orangedoorproject.ca. All local donations will assist NOYFSS in providing free educational groups and counselling services for youth in high-risk situations, including those facing homelessness or living on their own.
The supports offered by NOYFSS can help solidify safe housing, giving youth in the region opportunities to succeed no matter their circumstances.
“We are so thankful for the support from The Home Depot Canada Foundation and our local Vernon Home Depot. Since 2014 The Orange Door Project Fundraiser has been a significant partner in helping us provide at-risk-youth in the North Okanagan with a non-threatening environment, encouraging positive engagement, skill building and reduces high-risk behaviours,” said NOYFSS Executive Director Dean Francks.
Through the Orange Door Project, The Home Depot Canada Foundation supports 124 organizations that work to prevent and end youth homelessness nationwide. The foundation has invested more than $50 million into these organizations since 2013.
NOYFSS is a social service agency that aims to strengthen families through healthy relationships. It provides a wide range of social programs reflecting the diverse needs of the community.
