Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation was excited to announce that they have met and exceeded their fundraising goal for the 31st annual Light A Bulb Campaign.

They have raised over $310,000, the highest amount in Light A Bulb history.

“We are blown away by the generosity of North Okanagan residents,” says Lisa Westermark, Executive Director, Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation. “Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us.”

Funds raised through the Light A Bulb Campaign are going towards the purchase of new state-of-the-art anaesthesia machines at Vernon Jubilee Hospital. After exceeding the fundraising goal, they are almost at the point where they could buy two machines.

“Help us make our Light A Bulb Campaign an even greater success and raise enough funds to purchase two anesthesia machines for Vernon Jubilee Hospital. Every gift counts, no gift is too small and we are grateful for all contributions.”

Organizations who have donated to Light A Bulb include Alpine Centre Book Warehouse, Canadian Reformed Church Ladies Aid, Grizzly Curb & Concrete Ltd, Inland Kenworth, Pinecrest Construction Ltd., Smith Plumbing & Heating Ltd., and Sunset West Mechanical Ltd.

The Alpine Centre Book Warehouse has supported the Light A Bulb Campaign for the last three years. Their charming used bookstore is packed floor to ceiling with thousands of books, all priced no higher than one dollar. The store is all volunteer run and after expenses, 100 per cent of the proceeds from the store are given to charities in the community like the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation.

“We like to support local charities who depend on donations and can count on us,” says Lesley Hayes, coordinator of the Alpine Centre Book Warehouse.

The 31st annual Light A Bulb Campaign is on until Dec. 31. All gifts to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation stay local and get put to work right here in the North Okanagan.
