Vernon RCMP arrest two men in connection with multiple thefts

Police are recommending a total of 38 charges against two men, aged 25 and 27

A total of 38 charges are being recommended against two men in connection with a multitude of theft cases.

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP located a suspicious Ford F150 truck with two men inside parked on Hartnell Road shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday.

“The investigation showed that the truck had been stolen from the Vernon area on Nov. 4,” said Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy.

“A search of the truck and the men located numerous items that had been stolen in various thefts from vehicles in the area. These items included credit cards, IDs, wallets and tools.”

Noseworthy said the stolen items represent 10 thefts, the oldest of which happened Sept. 17.

The thefts occurred in a wide-ranging area, encompassing, Vernon, Armstrong, Westside Road and Coldstream.

The two men, aged 25 and 27, are being held in custody pending an appearance in Vernon Provincial Court.

A total of 16 charges are recommended against the 25-year-old, and 22 charges are recommended against the 27-year-old man. The recommended charges include possession of property over $5,000, possession of identity documents, possession of a credit card knowing it was obtained by crime and possession of property obtained by crime.

“Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP are again reminding the public not to leave valuables in their vehicles,” said Noseworthy.
