Vernon residents arrested in Kelowna

Marijuana seized during a search of a car Wednesday

Arrests by Kelowna RCMP have a North Okanagan connection.

A traffic stop in the Orchard Park Mall parking lot Wednesday resulted in one person fleeing the scene and police finding nearly four pounds of marijuana and a loaded firearm.

"The green Nissan sedan was stopped after police queried the vehicle and found that it was linked to a robbery in Vernon the previous day" said Const. Steve Holmes.

Police arrested the 37-year-old woman driver and a 24-year-old man, associated to the vehicle, a short time later .

The man and woman, along with another man, are facing possible recommended charges of possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance.

All three are from the Vernon area.
