Christmas is almost here but Vernon's Salvation Army is still looking to the community for support.

On Tuesday, the agency reached the $214,000 mark of its $500,00 fundraising campaign.

"We are still in need of donations, both monetary and children's gifts," said Stefan Reid, executive director.

"Our Christmas Angel Tree program is in need of gifts and our distribution days are fast approaching — Dec 19, 20 and 21."

Christmas kettles are located throughout the community or donate at www.vernonhouseofhope.com

On Saturday, Walmart Canada will match donations made by individuals to Salvation Army Christmas kettles located in its stores nationwide up to a maximum of $100,000.
