While the rise in lake levels has slowed, Thursday night’s storm damaged the Kal Beach dock.

Heavy wave action caused the pier structure to suffer material damage and consequently there is a heightened safety concern regarding further use.

The District of Coldstream with the Regional District of North Okanagan would like to reiterate and emphasize the safety related closure of the pier at Kalamalka Beach.

“Due to flood conditions, the pier has been closed for a number of weeks,” said Trevor Seibel, Coldstream’s chief administrative officer, in a press release. “Despite this closure and in contravention of signage and barriers, residents have continued to access the dock.”

The District of Coldstream and the RDNO are installing additional barricades to entry and will have a security presence to deter unlawful use in contravention of the posted closure. Violations of these regulations will be subject to enforcement action including fines.
