The Rattlesnake Hill Wildfire in Coldstream’s Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park is now classified as under control, according to B.C. Wildfire Service.
It is believed the blaze was human-caused. It reached 0.49 hectares in size at its peak.
The blaze was first reported around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 12.
Wildfires classified as under control are not expected to grow any further.
The Coldstream Fire Department actioned the blaze until 11 p.m. Friday. BC Wild Fire Service (BCWS) crews stayed in the evening with nine personnel taking over the operation. An air tanker was used to drop retardant on the blaze.
Coldstream Fire Chief Fiona Morgenthaler-Code says Coldstream crews arrived just before BCWS crews. The fire is under BCWS jurisdiction, so BCWS will be conducting the investigation.
On Saturday four of BCWS personnel are on site taking care of any remaining hot spots, according to fire information officer Aydan Coray.
