Don’t expect your regular wine and cheese pairing when served at Okanagan College’s Penticton Campus next month.
“Foolish Pairings,” an event developed by Juliana Buitenhuis and Gillian Cogill in conjunction with the OSNS Child and Development Centre, comes to the city on March 10, in support of kids across the region.
The gathering will blend the sophistication of wine with the “fun and nostalgia of everyone’s favorite junk food,” and proceeds from the day will go back to the Penticton-based OSNS child centre.
“We are excited to have this opportunity to support OSNS — as they have been supporting our son Rockford and our family in the most profound way — all while tasting fabulous wine,” Buitenhuis said, whose son has attended OSNS for two years after being diagnosed with a rare genetic condition and Autism.
Drink and snack pairings with wine expert Benjamin Isakse and a silent auction will headline the event, which runs from 3 to 6 p.m. inside the college’s Centre of Excellence Community Hall.
Wine will be provided by Foolish Wines, a wine label by local owners of Neighbourhood Brewing.
“We love the unique and creative fundraising ideas our community comes up with and this is no exception,” said Megan Windeler, a community engagement lead at OSNS. “It’s so inspiring when a family who is connected to our Centre decides to give back in this way, helping to ensure our services continue to thrive.
