When Al’s dog jumped the fence and bit Barb’s youngest son Wayne, Al figured the best way to remedy the situation was to propose marriage and created himself a family with Terry, Ricky and Wayne. Barb and Al welcomed 2 boys of their own Leonard and Regan. They managed to live on 3rd Ave in Vancouver for over 40 years in a 3 bedroom 1 bathroom house. They then discovered Gabriola Island and with her sister and the families helped build their cabin and provided many years of fun and entertainment and great memories for all. When they retired they decided to move to Vernon in a 5 bedroom
3 bathroom house overlooking Kal Lake. With only the 2 of them in this big house they made sure to welcome friends and the fast growing family of 5 sons, 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. They made Santa’s Anonymous in Vernon their charity of choice and for many years Barb and Al dedicated their efforts to provide the less fortunate kids with Xmas and Birthday gifts and joy and happiness for their families. They have lived a long and wonderful life. They were loving parents, grandparents, and great grandparents. After 64 years of marriage Barb could not leave Al trying to cope by himself and followed him 1 month later in their final experience. We understand that they could not be apart and had to be reunited but they both will be missed by many friends and above all their family.
As requested there will be no service. In lieu of flowers please donate to Santa’s Anonymous.
