It is with sadness but joyful hearts that Alice Breitkreuz, our Mama and Oma, peacefully drifted into the arms of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on February 18th, 2022.
Alice was born in Pissarowka, Ukraine on October 20th, 1930 to Herman and Olga Hildebrand and older brother Alex. As a family they endured many hardships but in 1949 Alice met Fred Breitkreuz, fell in love, and the two were soon engaged.
Fred immigrated to Canada and sent for Alice shortly after. They were married in Springside, Saskatchewan in 1951. As a young couple, they moved west to Vancouver, B.C. and spent many happy years welcoming their children, family and friends into their lives.
Decades later, Fred and Alice eventually downsized to a retirement home and after 62 years of marriage, in 2012, Fred passed away. Alice would downsize two more times, but with each move, she had a beautiful little garden with flowers, vegetables and nature calling outside her doorstep.
Alice will lovingly be remembered by her six children, Dora (John), Nora (deceased husband Len), Lony (Reinhard), Roy (Donna), Roland (Elaine) and Mona (Rick); seventeen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
A private Graveside Service for the family took place at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery followed by a Service celebrating Alice's life at the Church of God, 4312-25th Street, on Friday, March 4th, 2022 at 11 am with Pastor Gary Glanz officiating.

Alice's family would like to extend their deep appreciation to Dr. N. Tan and the nursing staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital for the loving care and respect they gave to Alice during her short stay there. Special gratitude to Dr. L. Pritchett and staff for the many years of exceptional and dedicated personal care.
