July 7, 1930 Brilliant, BC - June 30, 2020 Vernon, BC. Anne Chernenkoff passed away in her home of ten years at Heron Grove in Vernon, BC.
Her personal choir of family angels; husband Harold Sr, sons Harold Jr and Michial, son-in-law Norm Ward, sisters Pauline and Carol and parents Ann and John sang the "Lord's Prayer" in Russian. Their voices not at all in the same tone while alive, brought her to peace.
Anne with an "E" was best known for her kindness and putting family first. She instilled a strong work ethic in her offspring. She shared her funny and heartfelt lifetime stories with family and friends.
She lived in Nelson for over 50 years and moved to Vernon with her husband in 2002. From potato chip factory manager at age 15 to serving the public at the Shamrock Grill and Lord Nelson and cashiering at Darwin's Groceries, she loved all of her jobs in Nelson. Her hands were always busy baking bread, buns, tarts, making borscht, lapsha and canning.
Knitting and crocheting needles always clicking; if not for family then for friends. She would make blankets out of scraps and buried her worries in the gardens she had. She shared her love of cooking at Heron Grove, where she had won a borscht cook off.
She leaves behind her daughter Sharon Ward, daughter-in-law Corinne (Roman), grandchildren Jennifer (Geoff), Suzanne, Alison (Keith), Brian (Trish), Daniel (Lia), Marisha, 7 great-grandchildren, sister Nellie Vereshagen and many nieces and nephews.
Thank you to the staff at Heron Grove Cottage 4 and Dr. Perrier and staff. Mom was given dignified and good quality care. The weight of mom's final grief has been lifted. Let us celebrate the gifts she has given to all. Cremation has taken place. No service by request. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Vernon SPCA.
