It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Dad and Opa, Art Sass, at Heron Grove on June 29th, 2016 at the age of 81 years. Dad passed away peacefully in his sleep.
Art will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Christy (Dave) Nikkel of Kamloops, B.C. and Cindy (Kent) Neufeld of Armstrong, B.C.; four grandchildren who will never forget their Opa: Ben Neufeld, Abby Nikkel, Paige Neufeld and Ally Nikkel; two sisters, Martha Sass and Erika Berger, one brother, Willi Sass and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Tierza Witzke and Monika Held.
Art was born in Poland on October 3rd, 1934 and came from a large family. He, his mother and siblings, came to Canada in 1952 and they settled in Vernon.
Those wishing to pay their last respects to Art may do so at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Monday, July 4th, 2016 between 7:00-8:00 P.M.
A private family Graveside Service at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery will precede a Celebration Of Art’s Life which will be held at Faith Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 5th, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Len Mittelstaedt
officiating.
As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Art to the Good Samaritan Canada, 8861 75th Street, Edmonton, Alberta T6C 4G8 (designated for Vernon Heron Grove).
We, Art’s family, wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Dr. Lemiski and all the staff at Heron Grove for the great care you have provided to Dad. He was so grateful to have had the privilege of living there and for being so well loved by everyone.
