In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bertha Marian Kilborn in Vernon, B.C., on April 11th, 2023. Bertha was born on January 31st, 1948, in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. Her family moved to Vernon, B.C., in 1950 and she lived there her whole life.
She graduated from secretary school and worked for Consumers Glass in Lavington, B.C., for over 10 years. After Consumers shut down, she worked for Tolko Industries from 1985-1996 until her retirement at the age of 48.
Bored of retirement, she later completed her security guard training and worked at the Lake City Casino as a security officer. She also volunteered at the Vernon Community Policing office.
Bertha enjoyed many sports over her lifetime including skiing, curling, golf, and bowling, and had many fond memories as she made lifelong friendships through sport. She also especially enjoyed fishing and camping in the Okanagan and trips to Mexico with family or friends.
Bertha is survived by her daughter Dayna (Ted) Li and her grandchildren Brianna, Jayden, and Lucas. She is also survived by her sisters Elsie (Don) Keith and Margaret Clack, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father and mother, Fred and Elsie Schmid, and by her sister Emma O'Krainec.
A Celebration of Bertha's Life will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Monday, April 24th, 2023, at 2:00 pm with Reverend Dr. Teresa Charlton officiating.
