Betty Hoshowski, of Vernon, BC, passed away in the late hours of December 23/early hours of December 24, 2016 in the West Okanagan Regional Hospice. She was 89.

Betty was born in Drumheller, AB on August 2, 1927 to Adolf and Clara Ann Nauman [nee Skaggs]. Betty was married to Peter Hoshowski on October 31, 1953; they were married for 63 years.

Betty, when married, was a stay-at-home mom, working part time only when her youngest children were in high school. She enjoyed gardening, raising houseplants, especially violets, and spending time in her favorite chair, with at least one of the household’s pets in her lap while she read. She was also actively involved in the community as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and derived great pleasure from sharing her faith with others.

Betty is survived by her children Peter Marshall (Patty), William Paul (Gillian), David Kevin, Susan Lillian Teresa, and Mark Edward, her grandchildren Heidi, Amber, Peter Joseph, Adrianna and Paul, and her great grandchildren as well as other family and friends.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband Peter Hoshowski, her daughter Mary Jane and her son Michael.

Dear Mom: You were the centre of our lives and remained such as we grew up and moved on. We radiated out from you, like spokes on a wheel, but still we stayed in touch with you, our centre, and through you, to each other over the years. Rest now; you’ve earned it. We’ll be waiting for you when you wake up in Paradise, after you hear our Master Jesus’ call to you in the resurrection.

A Memorial Service for Betty Hoshowski will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1424 Mission Road, Vernon, BC.
