Betty Margaret Wren passed away peacefully at 94 years of age in Hillside Village on January 28, 2018.
Margaret was born on April 3, 1923 in Salmon Arm, BC in the family home of her Swedish parents Ed and Mina Peterson. She grew up on the Peterson farm along with her siblings Hubert, Elmer, Hjalmar, Floyd, Violet, Alf, and Ingrid.
She is survived by her youngest brother Alf. She grew up with a strong work ethic picking fruit, gardening, cooking for farm crews and doing farm chores.
Margaret married Laurence Glen (Pete) Wren on June 23, 1947 in Salmon Arm. They raised four children Denis (Valerie), Lynette (Jerry), Gayleen (Patrick), and Verne (Teresa). She was blessed with four grandchildren Brett, Tiffany, Kristen and Tenille and five great grandchildren Colton, Blake, Braydon, Amelia and Isabella. Margaret's husband Pete, son Verne and granddaughter Tiffany, predeceased her.
Her first love was her family and children. Her second love was her large flower and vegetable garden where she spent many happy hours. She took pride in her gardens and won numerous awards at the annual Fall Fair and garden shows.
A special thanks to Dr Levins, and Hillside Village for the compassionate care they provided to our mother.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Mothers Day, May 13, 2018 at the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home at 10 a.m., with a reception following in the Mountainside room.
