Coreen Schartner

October 31, 2016

Coreen Schartner

My darling wife, our dear Mom and Grandma, (Sylvia) Coreen Schartner was born to Frank P. and Annie Wiebe on November 30, 1937 in Steinbach, Manitoba. After a recent open heart surgery and a short battle with cancer, she peacefully went to be with Jesus in the evening of October 31, 2016, at the Hospice House, Vernon, BC. She was almost 79 years old.

As a young girl, she moved with her family to Abbotsford, B.C. She received her education at Dunach School in Mt. Lehman, BC

She married me, John Schartner, on April 29, 1955. We shared 61 beautiful years.

Our family moved to Enderby, BC in 1974 where we lived on the farm and also had a meat shop in later years. Coreen was a loyal wife who followed me all over the Province when I was involved in road construction, often living away from home for months at a time.

Mom was a friendly, vibrant lady who never knew a stranger. She was a very hospitable homemaker. She knew just how to make everyone happy. She was always happiest when we were all together. We look forward to all being in Heaven with her. Her faith was precious to her all her life.

Mother will be missed by her family: her beloved husband, John; her children Sandy and Tim Nace of Greensburg, KS; Kathy and Gene Reimer; Jim Schartner; Bruce and Mavis Schartner; Joyce and Kevin Reimer; all of Enderby, BC.

There are 17 grandchildren and their spouses, and 16 great grandchildren, all of which were very special to her. Also left to mourn are her sisters Jocelyn Carraini, Red Deer, AB; Viola Schartner, Crooked Creek AB; and one brother, Wilbert and Marlene Wiebe, Enderby, BC and one sister in law, Helen Wiebe, Steinbach, MB, numerous nieces and nephews, as well John’s family.

Those that went on before her were her parents, two brothers, and one sister, as well as her daughter in law, Gayle Schartner; as well as her parents in law and numerous members of John’s family.

Funeral services held at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2016, at the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Gardom Lake Road, Enderby, BC, with interment in Grindrod Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice House in Vernon for the incredible kind and care given to our mother.
