November 27, 1938 - September 16, 2018
Dale passed away peacefully on September 16, 2018 with his family by his side. Dale was born in Vernon, BC on November 27, 1938.

After graduation he moved to Bralorne and lived with the Illedge Family whom he would call his second family, which were a big part of his life. This is where he was introduced to mining and it became a passion. He mastered the tunnel boring machine alongside his Uncle Tom and then continued on his own working all over Canada and into South America in his later years. During his travels to Lynn Lake, Manitoba he then met the love of his life Joanne, where he swept her off her feet and moved back to Vernon bringing along 6 children into his life ages 3 - 18. Being a family man, now Dale decided it was time to get a real job, so he worked for the City of Vernon at the Sewage Treatment Plant, but the mining life was calling so after us kids were grown up he made his way back to mining until retirement. He enjoyed puttering in his workshop building things, working in the garden and keeping the yard immaculate.

Dale had the most beautiful blue eyes and sweetest smile, he will be deeply missed by his four-legged baby girl Misty who never left his side, step- children Cindy, Dwayne, Darren, Barbie (Eric) and Lori (Bentley), grandchildren Paige, Chelsey, Brandi and Codi, great-grandchildren Preston and Dawson which he loved to pieces and always made sure every young man had change in his pocket. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Joanne Harwood, step-son Richard Skihar, mother Annie Harwood (Hansen), father Albert Harwood, brother Joe Harwood and step-sister Ruth Harwood.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 at (4609 29th Street, Vernon, BC V1T 5C1).

Dale was cremated and requested the family celebrate his life in a small gathering of family and close friends at the family home, which was held on September 22nd, 2018.
