June 1, 1961 - October 15, 2022
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the family of Dwayne announce the sudden passing of their son, husband, and father on October 15th, 2022 at the age of 61 years. Dwayne was born to William (Bill) and Charlotte Stragier on June 1st, 1961 in Prince George, BC. Dwayne and his younger brother Neil were avid hockey players.
A culmination of that passion led Dwayne and teammates to the 1980 AAA midget hockey national championships in Thunder Bay, Ontario where they brought home the gold medal. In 1976 the family moved to Vernon, BC, and Dwayne graduated from VSSS in 1979. After high school, Dwayne managed Woolworths department stores which led him to Thompson, Manitoba. The move to Thompson would prove serendipitous when he met the love of his life, Carla Joanne Sargent in 1984. Returning to the Okanagan together in 1991, they welcomed daughter Nicole Marie. In 1992, Dwayne and Carla married after 8 years together. The arrival of daughter Ashley Jennifer completed the family in 1996. Many will remember Dwayne from his time at Little Caesars Pizza. Dwayne purchased the store in 2006 and acted as owner/operator, aka "The Big Cheese" until his passing.
Dwayne will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Bill and Charlotte; his wife Carla; his daughters Nicole (Brad) and Ashley (Keaton) along with numerous extended family members and friends. Dwayne was predeceased by his brother Neil in 1988.
