December 17, 1923 - October 26, 2018
Elma Brown passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on October 26th, 2018 at the age of 94 years, surrounded by her family. She will be sadly missed by her children; Wayne (Marian) Brown, Gloria (Edward) Kozlowski and Terry Brown, her special grandchildren; Jason (Vicki), Jennifer (Cliff) and their mother Cathy, Michael, Marlon (Laura), Marc (Danielle), Marcie (Steve) and her mother Vicki, Tiara, Janelle, Jordan and their mother Diane, her great-grandchildren; Cayla, Jessica, Spencer, Geoffrey, Alexander, Grayson, Paige, Landon, Halle, Arianna, Emerson and Presley along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Elma was born in Neidpath, Saskatchewan on December 17th, 1923 to Alexander and Caroline Schwartz. At a very young age Elma moved with her family to Vernon, B.C. from the prairies. She married William Brown and lived many years in the Bella Vista area where their three children grew up. Elma thrived on the love of her family and friends. She was active in The Church of God where her extended family also attended which was on the corner of 45th Avenue and 20th Street. The church eventually moved into a larger, new building which was located on Pleasant Valley Road and was then renamed The Pleasant Valley Church of God. Elma and other members of the congregation often sang in retirement homes to shut-ins. She will be most remembered by her family and friends as a lady who always prayed for them. She endured many hardships during her life-time but only grew in her love for God and developed a much stronger faith through those times. Elma moved into Sunnyvale in her later years and remained there until a very unfortunate fall in May of this year. From there she was admitted to short stay Gateby Residence until this month. There she met many people and continued to share her faith in God with them. Bob, Maryanne, Holly and John at Gateby were very special to Elma and helped her transition from independent living and encouraged her in everyday activities so she could overcome the challenges she faced because of her fall. Elma was an inspiration to all the people she touched in her life. Even in her last days she was a beacon of light and encouragement to all her family and friends.

The family wishes to express thanks to the Doctor and nurses on the second floor of the Vernon Jubilee Hospital for taking such good care of Elma and making her comfortable in her last days. But above all we thank God for our Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother and friend who truly loved us all.

A Celebration of Elma's Life will be held at the Pleasant Valley Church, 6161 Pleasant Valley Road, on Friday, November 2nd, 2018 at 11:00 am., conducted by family members. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
