It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of Evelyn, "Ev", on March 22, 2018 in Armstrong, BC. Ev passed away peacefully in her sleep under the loving care of the wonderful staff at Pleasant Valley Manor (Salmon Valley Unit). She was born on April 26, 1931 in Warrensville, AB.
She is survived by her loving husband Grant, daughters: Diana Brown of West Kelowna and Donna Catroppa (Jim) of Bankier; son Ken Helps of North Vancouver; step children: Kathy (Jim) Morrison of Calgary; Corinne (Wes) Wilson of Kelowna and 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, extended family and many friends.
She is predeceased by her 4 siblings; daughter Sheron Helps in 1989; grandson Morris Shulman in 1989; son-in-law Bill Brown in 1997 and step-son Gordon Grills in 1980.
Ev lived in Armstrong since 1989 and ran a hobby farm called L'il Kritr Mini Ranch with her husband Grant. She was also involved in the IPE, the Vintage Car Club and the Miniature Horse Club. She also loved to spend time in our community at the Valley Auction, Bargain Bin, and the Brown Derby Restaurant. Ev loved to share her 'kritrs' through many petting zoos at malls, schools and care homes.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at Alternatives Funeral Services in Armstrong on Thursday, March 29 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Evelyn's name to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.
