January 3, 1942 - March 8, 2019
Florence (Flo) was born on January 3rd, 1942 in Kaslo, B.C. and passed away on March 8th, 2019 in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital after a brief illness.  She graduated from Salmo High School, married and began raising a family.  In her younger years she was a Girl Guide leader, played softball, raced snowmobiles, golfed and skied.  She blazed a trail in nontraditional employment for women with a career spanning 40+ years, becoming the first female underground mine hoist and skip tender operator in Canada. She was a business woman and co-owned a first aid training company. She worked as a first aid and ambulance attendant in logging and oil patch camps and on dams. She loved school and took classes throughout her lifetime; cooking apprenticeship, master gardener, urban economics and more.  Flo and her baking will missed by family and friends.  She will be remembered at a Graveside Memorial at Lakeview Cemetery in Penticton at 11 am on Saturday, April 13th, 2019.
