In loving memory ~

February 17 (27) 1933 - April 22 2024

With heavy hearts we wish to announce the passing of our wonderful, dedicated mom (Baba) Frances Anaka, early morning on April 22, 2024.

Born on the farm in Saskatchewan, she was made of true grit. A natural born hard worker who never stopped. Mom shared many good stories from the farm; driving the tractor, shenanigans, family times, and lots of traditions that were passed on.

Mom worked as a nurse's aide in Manitoba for 13 years, before moving to Vernon (1967). She started at Vernon Jubilee Hospital where she worked in housekeeping and laundry, retiring after 26 years of service.

She was everyone's go to person. She was always there; to be someone's shoulder to lean on, a helping hand, and a listening ear to bounce ideas off of. For a good laugh, to give gardening or sewing & crocheting advice, bird watching, for the best recipes (especially perogies), crafting and sharing Ukrainian eggs, for a good game of cards, and her words of wisdom. If you were family or friends stopping through, you'd always be welcome to mom's house with open arms, and a treat, a cup of coffee, or Ukrainian supper with left overs, of course.

She was a very special lady, and we will hold onto her and our beautiful memories forever.

She is survived, and greatly missed by her children; Phyllis (Dave), Pat, and Rick (Marilyn). 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren. Siblings, Elsie (Laddie), Liz (Danny), and Gloria (Eddie). Many nieces, nephews, and friends (including dear friend Darlene of 55 years).

Preceded by her husband Peter (1971). Mom and Dad, Mary and Sam. Step dad, Tony. Sisters, Nellie and Jean. Brothers, Bill, Steve and youngest, Ed (December 5 2023).

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Dr. Boucher and his staff, the community care nursing & care aides, and to a wonderful number of the third-floor staff at VJH, especially Rachel. As well as a special shout out to Emily, Pat and Marilyn who were there whenever needed by mom.

Most importantly, thank you, mom. Thank you for being our backbone, strength, and constant. We love you.

Celebration of life will be at a later date. If wishing to attend or for more information please contact Emily at 250-306-5858. All Welcome.

As Mom said "It'll be what it'll be... and it'll

be good, everything will be good"
