November 7, 1932 - August 31, 2018
"Nonie" as many knew her, passed away peacefully the morning of August 31, 2018, at the age of 85. She was born in Merritt, BC on November 7, 1932 to John and Helen Turnbull and was the oldest of five children.

As a young graduate, Nonie worked for BC Telephone in Salmon Arm and while there she met and married her life partner, Rod Hesketh on June 27, 1952. They spent their early married life at the Kit Carson Guest Ranch located in the Lumby - Mabel Lake Valley. They moved to their present home on Shuswap River Drive, The Silver Hills Ranch in 1962 where they raised their family. Nonie was a great stock woman working side by side with Rod, whether doctoring calves, riding the range, monitoring the calving pen and so much more. She was a passionate horse lover and an accomplished rider. As an avid gardener, she always had an abundance to feed her family and neighbours. Nonie had a vast knowledge of plants and wildlife. Amongst her passions were bird watching, her flower garden and the pursuit of the best huckleberry patch. An ardent supporter of 4-H, all six of her children went through the program including numerous grandchildren. Always partners - Nonie and Rod instilled a good work ethic in their children: "Anything worth doing, was worth doing right!" Nonie 's kindness was extended to anyone who came through her door. She generously shared her wisdom with her family and was a surrogate mother to many.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Elizabeth Jolly and staff, Dr. Daniel McLeod, and Hope, her Nurse from the Inviva Clinic for their compassionate care.

Nonie is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Rod; sons - Wayne (Andrea), Brian (Christine), Lee (Crystal) and Mark (Rita) and daughters - Maureen (Fred) Ziemer and Gillian (Wayne) Hughes; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She is survived by her two sisters - Jean Mazzocca and Beverly Moore (Ken) and brother-in-law - Peter Kramer. Nonie is predeceased by her brother, Jack Jr. Turnbull and sister Donna Kramer.
