George was born August 14, 1922 in a small village near Kiev, Russia. The family immigrated to Canada in 1928 to settle on a farm near North Battleford, Saskatchewan.

As a farm boy, George learned the meaning of hard work and he maintained that ethic throughout his life. In the late 1940’s, the family moved to Kelowna, BC where George would meet and later marry Anne in 1949. After the birth of their first child, they moved to Vernon where three other children were born. Throughout the years, George provided well for his family, both financially and emotionally.

During his working years, he worked as a labourer, a truck driver, a bulldozer operator, and then as a carpenter. He built several homes in the Vernon area.

George was a very friendly and generous person, always willing to go out of his way to help others. The death of his wife in 1993 was a huge emotional blow.

In 2013, he was diagnosed with cancer and his health gradually declined until he became bedridden about one year ago. During this difficult ordeal he maintained a positive attitude and always had a kind, beautiful smile for everyone who came to visit.

George was predeceased by one brother and by his wife, Anne. He is survived by three sisters: Marie, Alvina, and Ann; his children: Elaine (Ray) Dusseault, Roy (Lorraine), Debbie Walton, and Larry; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank all of the healthcare personnel who assisted George.

A Graveside Service will be held at Pleasant Valley Cemetery on Thursday, June 1st, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.

Flowers are gratefully declined. Those who wish to make memorial contributions in memory of George may do so to a charity of personal choice.
