Gerald George (Gerry) Green, a life long resident of Vernon, passed away in the North Okanagan Hospice on November 19th, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Gerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife Olive, to whom he was married for 58 years; his seven children, Andrew (Jane) of Grand Forks, B.C., Susan (Jim) Dillabough and Linda (Wayne) Brink of Vernon, B.C., Avon (Jim) Dykeman of North Vancouver, B.C., Alan (Sandra) of Prince Rupert, B.C., Patricia Johnstone and Robert (Patti) of Vernon, B.C.; twelve grandchildren, Brent (Jessica), Darin (Bree), Chelsea (Aaron), Jennifer, Amy, Jeritt, Jason (Sylvia), Cody, Amber, Tyler, Richard and Trinity; several step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, Maeve, Cameron and Harlow; his younger brother, Murray (Elsie) Green and sister-in-law, Margaret Green of Vernon, B.C.; and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex & Aldea Green, and older brother, Emory Green.

Gerry had a great love for his family and enjoyed spending time with them whenever possible. He was very active in the Vernon Curling Club, the Spallumcheen Golf Club, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #25. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and time at the Okanagan Lake cabin. Gerry was a great fan of the Vernon Vipers, had an annual season pass and loved attending the games whenever he could.

In respecting Gerry’s wishes, he was cremated and there will be a private family service held at a later date.
