MR. GORDON SIMON (GORDIE) MCDONALD passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 18th, 2002 at the age of 84 years. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife Perry, to whom he was married for 57 years, his children; Judy (John) of Kamloops, B.C., John (Dawn) of Salmon Arm, B.C., Marty (Sharil) of Abbotsford, B.C. and Sue of Victoria, B.C., his grandchildren; Charla, Jayna, Dana, Adri, Kara, Jeff, Ken and Keith and his six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son, Sam in 1985. Gordie was born in Vancouver, B.C. on February 18th, 1918 where he attended UBC before joining the RCAF in 1942. He served overseas where he met and married Perry. Returning to B.C., they raised their family in Salmon Arm, B.C. and Williams Lake, B.C. where Gordie followed his career in the Lumber Industry. Shortly before his retirement from Crown Zellerbach in Armstrong in 1983, they moved to Vernon. Gordie will be forever missed by his family and all who knew his gentle nature and sense of humour. Cremation preceded the Celebration Of Gordie’s Life which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Thursday, October 24th, 2002 at 1:00 P.M. with a Reception following in the Tea Room at Bethel Funeral Chapel. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Gordie McDonald to the B.C. Lung Association, P.O. Box 34009, Postal Station D., Vancouver, B.C. V6J 4M2 or to the charity of their choice. The family wishes to especially thank Dr. McNamara, Doctors, Nurses and Staff of the Vernon Jubilee Hospital, the Paramedics, Constable Brooks, Kerry of Bethel Funeral Chapel and all our friends for their caring and help.
