December 9, 1951 - April 12, 2019
Gustav Charles Columbus left us unexpectedly after his second bout with cancer on Friday, April 12th, 2019 at the age of 67 years.
Charles was predeceased by his wife Carol Mouland, to whom he was married to in 2007, He is lovingly remembered by his children, Charmaine and Jayson (Leanne) whom he raised with Alethea, his first wife; step-daughter Natasha (Kevin); grandchildren; great-grandchild; brothers & sisters Ed (Juli), Marg (Tim), Liz (Rainer), Marilyn and Gordon (Monica); numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Charles was born on December 9th, 1951 in Kelowna, BC and from an early age lived most of his life in Vernon, BC. Charles was a proficient drywaller and an accomplished stained glass artist. He loved going fishing and mastered the art of jigging at Pinaus lake, much to the envy of fishermen around him!
Charles loved planting and keeping a vegetable and flower garden. He also enjoyed creating his own sanctuary in his backyard. He had many visitors such as deer, beavers, geese and ducks that he would photograph and quietly watch. Charles faith was also firm, which he attributed to his upbringing with parents of faith. Above all, Charles loved his wife Carol and missed her deeply after she passed. He dearly loved his children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters and many family and friends. Charles will be greatly missed by all of us including his kitty companions Domi and Dari.
A heartfelt thank you is extended from his children and family to all who sent flowers, condolences and expressions of sympathy. We are grateful for all your love and support.
A memorial service will be held on Friday April 26, 2019 at the Army & Navy Hall 2500 46 Ave Vernon BC. Doors will open at 11:30 am with an informal service beginning at noon.
