Ingrid Helga Anneliese Schmidt

November 3, 1935 - October 8, 2019
Ingrid was born on November 3rd, 1935 in Berlin, Germany and passed away on October 8th, 2019 in Vernon, B.C. at the age of 83 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 58 years, Heinrich, her children; Andrew Schmidt, Angela (Mike) Michon and Connie Bourbonnais, her grandchildren; Kelly, Kristina, Rachel, Taylor and Sienna along with numerous extended family members and friends.
Ingrid was born in Berlin and grew up in Bad Pyrmont with her father. She was trained and worked as a dental assistant. She then decided to take a few years off to travel and work as a nanny in the beautiful countries of Switzerland and France. Ingrid met Henry and they married and immigrated to Canada in 1960. Upon arrival into Canada, they started their family while constructing their first home in Port Coquitlam. As the children grew older, they moved to South Surrey where Ingrid enjoyed gardening and taking care of her large property with the help of her constant companion, Benny the German Shepherd.
In 1991, Ingrid and Henry made the move to Vernon where Ingrid loved having her grandchildren over to visit. She spent time taking them to the lake and baking them their favourite cookies. Ingrid enjoyed skiing at Silver Star Resort where they held a season pass for almost 10 years. She was a member of the Edelweiss Society in Vernon.
Cremation preceded a Celebration of Ingrid's Life which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Saturday, October 19th, 2019 at 1 pm. A Reception will follow in the Bethel Tea Room.
The family would like to thank the nurses on 3 North of the Vernon Jubilee Hospital for their support and loving care they provided for Ingrid. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Ingrid to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation.
