It is with great sadness we regret to announce the passing of Irene Fisher.
Irene is survived by her daughter Leslee-Ann (Tim), sons; Larry (Karen) and Kelly (Joddie) and granddaughters Karlyn and Brittney. She is also survived by sister-in-law Pauline and Linda Sawka, brother-in-law Joe Ostraas as well as nieces and nephews.
Irene was predeceased by her husband Herb in 2017. They celebrated 67 years of marriage in 2016. She was also predeceased by her parents, Fred and Anna Sawka, sister Alice Ostraas, and brothers Nick and Bill Sawka.
Irene was born in Hazel Dell, Saskatchewan the second oldest of four children. At an early age she moved with her family to a small farm in Lavington. She attended school there and in her teen years worked packing fruit for the Vernon Fruit Union.
At about this time she met Herb Fisher and they were married in 1949.
In the early years mom helped with the family hardware store, but with the onset of children, took on a more important role.
Irene was the best of moms. She was an excellent cook and homemaker - always going beyond to please family and friends. She made life at home very easy.
Mom also loved their acreage and took pride in the beautiful vegetable and flower gardens she tended to.
In the fall and winter months, she loved curling in the ladies league and thoroughly enjoyed her friends and team mates.
The past two and a half years she resided at Hillside Village in, Salmon Arm, BC dealing with Alzheimer's. Her passing was sudden but peaceful.
Our family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Hillside for their care and compassion they showed to our mom and family during her stay. Greatly appreciated!
