In loving memory ~
Iris died peacefully after a brief illness. Mom was born in Imperial, SK to parents, Edie & Harry Lacey. Iris was the younger of two children. Her sister, Edith predeceased her. It was in Regina that she met the love of her life, an airman, Martin (Hal) Hallam. They married on June 14,1945 in Vancouver, BC. They had only one child, a daughter, Linda.
Iris had a zest for life and brought joy to those who knew her. She worked alongside Hal at their bakery on Kingsway and found great satisfaction in being a part of the A.C.W. at St. Matthias Anglican Church.
Mom loved to entertain. She was a wonderful cook and loved to bake.
Iris and Hal were fortunate to have enjoyed many holidays overseas, and laterally wintered in Yuma, Arizona. Sadly, Hal predeceased Iris in 1991 due to a combination of ALS and Alzheimer's.
Left to mourn Mom's passing are her daughter, Linda (Bob); Grandchildren Brian, Kevin (Sarah) and Terri (Ken Brown) and Great Grandchildren William, Luke, George, Lydia and Marlon.
Iris left many friends behind when she moved from Richmond BC to Vernon to be closer to her Family. She missed her visits with Trixie Heilmann but they remained friends until the end. She enjoyed living at Orchard Valley Retirement Residence in Vernon where she enjoyed the fellowship of staff & friends, particularly, the Stratton's, the Bleaney Family and Pauline MacKay who visited Mom weekly until the end.
Linda and Family want to thank the Care Aids and Nurses at Cottage One and Three, and the Staff at Heron Grove for the loving attention they gave to Mom. Thanks also to Dr. Iredia for his ongoing support and care.
There will be no funeral service, rather to be remember for the person she was. Should you wish to donate the Alzheimer Society, and the BC Cancer Agency (Brain Cancer Research) were charities close to Mom's heart.
